Spain
Statkraft Spain opened its office in Madrid in March 2019. Since entering the Iberian market in the previous year, Statkraft has become a very active player in the development of renewable energies in Spain and Portugal.
Statkraft plays a critical role in ensuring the viability of renewable generation projects by enabling them to obtain the necessary financing for their construction. Recent examples are long-term power purchase agreements with renewable energy developers BayWa r.e. and aventron for the construction of subsidy-free solar parks.
In addition, Statkraft Spain is dedicated to supplying physical energy to the power-intensive industry (amongst others steel, cement and paper), as well as to trading companies and other parties interested in reducing their exposure to the volatility of energy prices in the wholesale market, which allows for better planning and budgeting of costs and investments.
